Ethnic/Specialist

There is a huge variety of restaurants in Galway catering for every taste and pocket. Galway has cultivated a restaurant market with the cosmopolitan palate in mind and most restaurants do not limit themselves exclusively to any particular ethnic choice. Having said that there are probably more ethnic restaurants than ever before in Galway. In particular, Galwegians seem to be partial to Italian food and the continental ethos is propagated in the cafe society that has blossomed there over the last number of years where a snack and a chat are the order of the day. Typical Irish cuisine is of course traditional, but the seafood dishes to be had in some of the fish restaurants are unbeatable. There is also a considerable number of vegetarian and health food style restaurants - in deference to Galway's bohemian and student population, no doubt!
